As 2022 wraps up I can't help but reflect on my business, personal life and everything we have yet to celebrate.
This year has taught me a lot. In January I came off my three-month "maternity leave" (do entrepreneurs ever actually take leave? who knows?! haha!) and navigated my new role in motherhood, while balancing my ambitions and business goals. Part of me was pushing to continue to grow my business at the speed I was used to, while the other was trying to figure out how to be a good mother to my little one...all while my body was physically recovering.
I had to re-learn how to pivot, make adjustments, trust the process and trust my village. I questioned everything. Would I ever be able to give motherhood 100%? Am I a bad mom for wanting to go to work? Would it have been easier to stay at a corporate job? That last one shocked me too... but in the end, my passion would shine through.
This came from setting boundaries and doing things my way - without the noise of others' opinions. The adjustments I made to balance my work and personal life were filled with sacrifices. It was rough but worth it. As I look back I'm proud of what I accomplished, how I managed, and the relationships I built along the way, including the one with my son.
This year I introduced new services, elevated my media credibility, and did a lot of behind-the-scenes work to build my business so that I can live with the freedom of owning my time. I want to be able to spend quality time with my loved ones and not miss milestone moments while also chasing my goals. Is this life for everyone? No ...but it is for me. Yes, things don't look like they used to, and yes I'm still learning, but as we wrap up 2022, I'm realizing how far my power can go, and I'm ready to continue to empower others.
On that note, I'm signing off for the year... Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and wishing you a beautiful 2023!
