On Friday, April 4, I had the honour of sitting on my first-ever panel at This Mother Means Business LIVE, and wow… let me just say: I’m still processing.

The panel was called The Power of You, and it cracked something wide open in me. I almost cried, definitely laughed, spoke from the heart—and most of all, I felt seen in a room full of powerful women walking a similar path.

Today, I want to share a few things I’m still carrying with me:

1. Stop forcing people to get it—find the ones who already do

As women, we’ve been conditioned to do it all. Alone. Silently. And if we do ask for help, it’s often from people who (bless them) just don’t get it.

I have the best partner. My sisters are my soulmates. But they didn’t really understand the imposter syndrome or what being on that stage meant to me. The emotional weight of it. The pride. The power.

You know who did get it? My business bestie. She sent me a voice note the night before that made me cry, laugh, and breathe deeper. And the next day? I replayed it before stepping onto that stage.

That’s your reminder: your emotional support soulmates might not be who you expect. And that’s okay. Make space for the people who see and understand your experiences.

2. Community, community, community

Want to scale your business? Build a community.

Want to try something new? Lean on your community.

Want to cry into your tea because balancing motherhood and business is WILD sometimes? Yep—community.

I cannot stress this enough: You’re not meant to do this alone. Your success isn’t just about grit—it’s about connection.

3. Mom guilt is real... and so unnecessary

It hit me recently: I didn’t feel like myself for almost three years after having my son. I only started coming back to life six months ago—and I didn’t even realize how deep in it I was until I started to feel better.

Motherhood is transformational, beautiful, and let’s be real... sometimes deeply exhausting.

We’re running businesses, keeping homes, holding space for our kids, partners, and clients—and still trying to figure out who we are in the midst of it all. Give yourself grace. Please.

Let’s retire terms like “snap back” and start saying, “I’m coming back to me—slowly, gently, beautifully.”

4. Follow. The. Fun. 🎉

Rebecca from The Detour Co., another panelist, said it best: “Follow the fun.” And I haven’t stopped thinking about it since.

It’s a simple phrase, but a powerful one. In business, in motherhood, in LIFE—what would happen if we let fun lead the way a little more often? If we allowed joy to be the metric?

Fun isn’t frivolous—it’s fuel. Let’s start treating it that way.

5. Your partner needs to support you

Not just kinda. Not just “okay fine, do what you want.” I mean truly support you.

My partner is incredible. Does he understand everything I do in my business? Not really. Is he sometimes nervous about the leaps I take? Sure. But does he show up, cheer me on, and trust me? 100%.

And that’s the bar. If your partner isn’t actively rooting for your growth, they might not be the one to grow with you.

6. My alter ego needs a name 👀

Someone asked me if I have an alter ego when I design. And the answer is YES—although I’ve never named her.

She’s a bold, badass creative queen and a grounded, calm soul who enters flow state like it’s her job (because it kinda is). She needs good vibes, a cozy space, and a clear channel to let the energy move like a damn river.

I become her when I’m designing magic—and now I want to give her a name. Suggestions, anyone?

Final Thoughts

This experience reminded me that we—the mothers, the creatives, the leaders—are more powerful than we’ve been taught to believe.

It reminded me to stop forcing others to understand my journey and start honouring those who walk alongside me with intention and care.

It reminded me that growth takes time. That joy is a strategy. That grace is non-negotiable. That our voice—your voice—is your power.

And I just wanted to say: if you’re out there doing your best to raise babies and businesses, I see you. Keep going. You’re doing better than you think.

Now excuse me while I go name my creative alter ego and start following the fun. 💁🏽‍♀️
